Mikey Alfred's "Illegal Civilization" is one of the best amateur skate videos I've seen in a while, and I'm not just saying that because we went to the same High School (Lets go Cubs). Music selection,editing, and spots are all on point, It features all local LA skaters, and even has cameos from those Golf Wang kids (most notably Nakel Smith, kids nasty).

I remember the first time I  heard "Kick Push" back in High School while watching MTV Jams one morning.  Although I had given up skating several years before then, I was instantly hooked and was turned into a certified Lupe stan...

Lu had alot of fans worried, following the release "Lasers" (2011) album which was considered a commercial success,  but was panned by critics and fans alike for lacking the substance and soul of his previous two releases, "Food & Liquor" and "The Cool". But today, Lupe decided to bless the web with the first single off of "Food & Liquor 2" which samples Pete Rock's classic "T.R.O.Y." (without his permission apparently as he doesn't seem to be too pleased). But regardless, this new song reminds listeners why they became fans in the first place, and gives hope for his newest project.

That boy Perry (Perrion) from Harlem and French producer Myth Syzer are becoming a pair to look out for. They recently dropped their collaborative project "From Paris with Love",  and today decided to let go of some new visuals.

Music is an essential part of my life, which is why I will rarely be found without a pair of earbuds and my 14G Nano on my person at any given time. For my first music post, I wanted to showcase the Black Lip Bastard's latest So(u)lo effort "Control System," an album that has been getting alot of plays as of late..

Ab is best known for his collabs with his fellow Top Dawg Entertainment/Black Hippy colleagues, most notably Kendrick Lamar. What I like most about all of TDE's solo releases is how they display each member's lyrical prowess  with top notch production, minimal filler, and enough song variety that allow for full playthroughs without getting dull. And "Control System" is no exception, as it sounds more like a companion piece of Kendrick's critically acclaimed "#Section80," with all the biblical and conspiracy allusions.

Ab-Soul assaults each track with diverse flows matched up with cunning wordplay and themes that scale from anti-establishment and censorship, to relationship woes and addiction. Album also features all of his TDE homies, talented up-and comer Danny Brown, songstress Jhene Aiko, and the late Alori Joh (to which the "The Book of Soul" is dedicated to).

The album can be purchased on Itunes, and although we live in a day of age where albums can easily be downloaded, I always encourage people to support artist they truly enjoy.. But you can make that call yourself after listening to the stream below.

Pharrell Williams is definitely one of the most influential figures of not only the music world, but streetwear and skate culture as a whole. He has influenced many of your favorite artists, designers, and musicians for the last few decades. Not much is currently known about his newest project, but as seen in the video, it seems to be a network to foster individuality.. or something.

I welcome thee, to the BRK.Collective. You may be wondering who is this fellow pictured above, and what has happened to Zac, but I promise you that it will all make sense in due time..

As Zac continues to be pre-occuppied with his art student responsibilities and running a beloved clothing line, I have been presented with the unique opportunity of becoming a contributor of this remarkable "blog". But who am I ? I go by many names (well actually two), but am usually found on many a forum and network under the moniker "ThatKidRawr," a name bestowed to me by friends reluctant to say my full name. I currently reside in Los Angeles, California, a city that has molded me into the cultured bruh you see today, and currently studying Philosophy as a third year at UCLA. My only credentials are a deep fondness for all things street/skate/art culture, an OCD-like dedication to finding dope obscure music, and a lot of free time.

My primary objective on this site is expose, you the reader, to artists and media that tends to get overlooked in this vast web of hype and commercialism. But I'm gonna try to avoid having  "reviews", so that I can allow you guys to form your own opinions. And I'll always open for some constructive criticism, as I'm just getting the hang at this whole blogging thing..
